Prelaw
Education that leads to careers in public service and law is among Northeastern’s founding traditions, and it remains one of our core strengths. Our partnerships with Boston’s neighborhoods, social agencies, and legal, political, educational, and economic institutions offer unparalleled opportunities to put your classroom learning into practice and prepare you for graduate studies.
For example, if you are interested in law school, you can major in any discipline that ignites your interest, and combine your classroom studies with an equally rich variety of co-op opportunities.
The College of Criminal Justice, a popular choice for students in prelaw, offers co-ops with leading law firms, law enforcement organizations, the courts, and other sectors of the justice system. A variety of majors and concentrations in the College of Arts and Sciences also offer an excellent foundation for prelaw studies, and provide co-op opportunities with government agencies, municipal, state, and federal legislatures, and government watchdog groups.
If your public service interests range beyond the law, you still have a wide spectrum of majors and disciplines to consider: human services, American Sign Language, economics, international affairs, nursing and other health professions, education, sociology, culture and gender studies, plus dual majors and minors that enable you to connect professional studies with service.
These areas of study offer co-ops with social service agencies, public and private schools and educational organizations, museums, hospitals and public health clinics, environmental groups, and international development agencies.
