Christopher Ford, Health Science Entrepreneurs

Chairman (Ret.) & Co-Founder, American Renal Associates, Inc.

American Renal Associates, Inc. (ARA) is one of the largest dialysis providers in the US and offers physicians an alternative to traditional large dialysis chain ownership.

Chris co-founded ARA in August 1999 with two colleagues from Fresenius Medical Care (FMC), the world’s largest dialysis company. Today ARA owns and operates over 150 outpatient dialysis clinics, in 21 states and the District of Columbia, treating over 9000 patients and employing over 1700.

Formerly, Chris was the President of FMC’s International Services Division. He grew the Fresenius international division from a small presence in Spain and Portugal, to a worldwide organization providing care for 10,000 chronic dialysis patients in 14 countries.

He has worked in the dialysis services industry since 1971, and during his 40+ year career he has contributed to the build out of the U.S. dialysis market from its infancy in the 1970’s to an $8 billion healthcare business today.

Chris received his BS degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
