Description:

The Waseda University business plan competition business plan will accept local business plan submissions up through October 26, 2008. Of these 50+ submissions, only 5 will be selected for presentation. There is no limit with respect to business type. The business plan selection committee consists of faculty members within the Waseda University Entrepreneurial Research Unit (WERU). The presenters of the winning business plan will receive $10K for seed capital from WERU Investment Inc.

Presenters:

Professor Hiro Higashida,
venture capitalist

Dr. Higashide is a professor at the Graduate School of Commerce at Waseda University. Prior to his academic tenure, Dr. Higashide acquired extensive commercial experience at the Kajima Corporation, where he was involved in domestic and overseas real estate development and investment. Since then, he has conducted in-depth studies in risk finance, entrepreneurship theory, and research and development at Waseda Business School. Dr. Higashide holds a master's of business administration and a doctorate from Imperial College, the University of London.

Mr. Takiguchi　graduated from Matsuyama University of Commerce in 1986 and graduated form MBA in MOT at Waseda University in 2004. He worked at Nomura Securities for 12 years. After resigning from Nomura, he joined Actcell Investment Co., Lrd., as CEO. In 2006, he became CEO of WERU Investment Co. Ltd., he is an expert of venture capital business and asset management.

WERU Investment is the first Venture Capital related university in Japan. The company was initially founded by some of the professor of Waseda Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies (Currently Waseda Business School) based on their academic activities through the Institute and Waseda University Entrepreneurial Research Unit (WERU).
