Microbial growth and metabolism is highly influenced by the type of chemical compounds found in the surrounding environment. One of the contributing actors for the type of the chemical compounds found in a certain environment is the microbial activity existing in it. Streptococci are the most common bacterial group found in the oral environment and they produce several types of volatile organic compounds in order to survive and interact with other microbes. Currently I am trying to understand the growth response of oral Streptococci isolates to different volatile organic compounds that are known to be
produced by different Streptococci species. In addition to that my research experiences and interests also include, microbial diversity and ecology, microbial culture, microbial metabolites, endophytic microbes, plant microbe interaction, microbial molecular biology.
