Angela Irving serves as the Associate Director for the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University.  In this capacity, she coordinates and directs the Bridge to Teaching Program, an undergraduate aspiring teachers program for paraprofessional and teaching assistants. She is also on the board of trustees for the Boston Green Academy, a new Horace Mann Charter school opening in the Fall of 2011.  Angela coordinated the Massachusetts Education Policy Fellowship Program between 1997 and 2008 along with John Portz.  She earned a BA degree from University of Massachusetts-Boston, attended Lesley University’s graduate school of management, and the MPA program at Northeastern University.  Angela, a mother of three and a grandmother of seven (and one on the way), has worked at Northeastern University for 17 years.

Carol Doherty came to Northeastern University in 1995 as Director of Professional Development Programs in the School of Education, a position she holds today.  She graduated from Boston University with a BS in Business Administration and received her Master of Education Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Bridgewater State University.  She taught third grade in New Bedford and Taunton and served as an elementary school guidance counselor until she became President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, a position she held for four years. Before coming to Northeastern she held a position in the Graduate Education Department at Lesley University. Carol hosts a radio talk show in her community and sings in the local civic chorus.

Michael Dukakis is a University Distinguished Professor at Northeastern University. He joined the faculty in the Political Science Department in 1991 and teaches courses in the areas of public administration, health policy, and leadership. Prior to coming to Northeastern, he served for twelve years as the governor of Massachusetts, and he was the 1988 presidential nominee of the Democratic Party.  Mike leads two seminars in the fall of each program year.

John Portz is a professor in the Political Science Department at Northeastern University. His teaching areas include public administration, public policy, and state and local government. His primary areas of research include education policy and leadership. John also is active in his home community of Watertown. He served as an elected member of the Town Council for eight years and now serves on the Watertown School Committee.  John assists with a session in the spring.
