What Noken does Noken is a young, fast growing VC backed company based in the heart of NYC. We curate trips to explore new countries, and they can be booked in minutes. In simple terms, first we make it super easy to build and book trips to foreign countries, and second, we give you an app that is personalized to your group’s itinerary and guides you around the destination (no more scrolling through Yelp for dinner recommendations or spending hours on Google trying to figure out what to see and do). We’ve raised over $500k in funding from top institutions like Brooklyn Bridge Ventures, Dorm Room Fund, Rough Draft Ventures, the Airbnb GM for Europe, and many other angels. Why you should join If you’re interested in joining and/or launching your startup someday, this is your best opportunity to get a full deepdive into that world. We’re a very small and dynamic team, so you’ll get a ton of autonomy and will get to interact with/report directly to the founders. There’s no hierarchy, we have a fun and collaborative environment, and share very openly what happens in our VC and investor meetings. We’ve also done coops in the past ourselves (Marc as an employer and Parshwa as an employee) so we really understand the program and look forward to help you grow and fulfill your goals. What you’ll be doing Our tech enabled service currently supports trips to Iceland and Colombia. Come Fall 2018, we’ll have raised another seed round and will be getting ready to unlock 34 new destinations. You’ll primarily be focused on the work that our marketing and operations strategy teams are doing. This could include, but is not limited to: Country/destination expansion (helping our Destinations team build out Noken experiences for the new countries we will be unlocking) Leading partnership strategy in different countries (deciding on and establishing relationships with providers in new countries + negotiating commission rates) Developing and executing on various marketing strategies (e.g. all types of social media, creative posts, blog development, and growth acquisition campaigns) Managing the operations strategy of a part of our customer experience team (this includes helping optimize the customer purchase funnel and also helping understand the types of questions that are sent to customer support + executing on a customer communication/interaction strategy). On top of the responsibilities we just outlined, you’ll also be held accountable as a dynamic team member. This means you can expect the day today responsibilities to change every once in a while and for your number to be called on when things go crazy (as they are expected to in a growing startup)! Who is the Noken team Our founding team is made up of 3 young entrepreneurs who came together at the beginning of 2017 to solve a frustrating travel problem through tech. Marc Escapa, the CEO, is a graduate of Harvard Business School, where the company was founded; and he has worked at McKinsey and JP Morgan in the past. Emily Brockway, the CMO, is also from Harvard Business School, and was the Chief of Staff to the CEO at Box after a brief period at Goldman Sachs. Parshwa Khambhati, Head of Operations, graduated from Northeastern in May of 2017, and did coops at Fidelity, Bowen Advisors, and Turo. We’ve also just brought on Matthew Ratzloff, our new VP of Engineering, and have collaboration from 4 part time freelancers (focused on tech and copywriting). Our offices are based at VoyagerHQ, a cool coworking space for techtravel startups. If this all sounds exciting, we look forward to chatting with you! Keywords: startup, entrepreneurship Coordinator: Esther Chewni
