Aptara
Aptara, an educational publishing group located in the South End of Boston, has provided editorial and project management experience to over 30 Northeastern students since 2002.
Aptara works with all the major American text book publishers to develop, design and manufacture books for the elementary and high school markets. They work in all subject areas, including math, reading, social studies and science, as well as creating bi-lingual versions of texts in every discipline. The Boston office is the primary editorial, design and manufacturing site in North America. Worldwide, Aptara employees more than 3,000 at sites in India, Australia, England and the U.S.
Students at Aptara have had the opportunity to provide administrative, clerical and editorial support to editors and project managers to ensure timely delivery of materials to clients, writers, editors, and vendors. One student commented at the conclusion of her co-op, “I now more fully understand the publishing process; where we get images for textbooks, how they are edited, who determines content. This experience will be a major bonus if I move on to similar jobs in the future.”
Northeastern has been very fortunate to acquire Aptara as one of its valued co-op partners.
