There are many ways to get help from WC staff:
NEW: E-Tutoring
We now offer asynchronous consultations through WCOnline. Students may upload their writing to WCOnline, and our E-tutor will respond and upload their comments within 48 hours. To use this service, book an appointment and upload your writing -be sure to mention what you’d like our E-Tutor to discuss and comment upon. For Example, “I’d like to get suggestions on how better to organize the structure of this essay. I’m also struggling with logic and argument.” A response to your paper will be uploaded in 48 hours or less. Simply log in to your appointment to view your E-Tutor’s response.
NEW: Dual Resource Consultants
Students can choose whether to meet in person or online!
This semester, we have several dual resource consultants. These consultants will offer both in-person and online consulting sessions. Students may select either a face to face or online session upon booking an appointment. Up to an hour before their session, students may opt to log in and change their selection.
In-Person Consulting
You can make an appointment to sit down face-to-face with a Consultant for 45 minutes. To make the most of their time, please bring a copy of the assignment you want to work on, any suggestions your professor has made so far on this or other writing, and realistic expectations of what can be accomplished in 45 minutes. You may book an appointment here. Walk-in appointments are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Group Consulting
If you are working on a group project and would like to have your group meet with a consultant, simply have one of your group members book an appointment with us. When you complete your appointment form, list the group members that plan to attend the session.
Mobile Consulting
If you have a pressing deadline, or live far away from campus, consider signing up for our new mobile consulting option. Like in-person consulting, this is a real-time, 45-minute session with a Writing Consultant. Our mobile sessions are offered through our WC Online system; you may book and access your online (mobile) appointment here.
E-mail Consulting
You can submit your writing to the WC through our E-mail Submissions Form. One of our E-mail Consultants will respond within 48 hours. Because of the nature of the electronic mode, the Consultant will not mark up the text for editorial issues, such as grammar or syntax. Instead, they will comment on the areas identified by the student as needing help, such as argument or structure. Writers who need help with editing should make an in-person appointment. Consultants will spend 45 minutes reviewing and commenting on the document submitted.
