Students are required to have a 2.0 QPA to transfer to the major after the freshman year or to declare a minor in Literature, Writing, or Rhetoric. Students transferring into the major must complete ENGL 2100 Backgrounds to English and American Literature and at least one of the required three surveys (ENGL 1500, ENGL 1501, ENGL 1502, or ENGL 1503) or demonstrate that they have successfully completed equivalent courses elsewhere within two semesters of declaring the major, and must also attain a QPA of at least 2.5 in their English courses within two semesters of declaring the major. Acceptance into the major will be based on students’ meeting the Department’s criteria for admission and availability of space in the program.
