Senior vice president for enrollment management Philomena Mantella and senior vice president for finance and administration Jack McCarthy unveiled the $10 million to $14 million project, called Unified Digital Campus (UDC), during a kickoff meeting earlier this fall.

Over the next three years, the new system will be phased in to provide a central source of university information. Sun-Gard Higher Education, which has installed the same program at many other large universities, including Dartmouth, Notre Dame, and Pace University, will oversee the transition. The new system will be built upon a foundation provided by Banner software,
and will be coupled with the communication framework capabilities of the Luminis Platform. Upon completion of the project, all outdated departmental technology systems will be replaced.

“This newest generation technology incorporates web technologies with a centralized data repository that can span departmental data requirements, provide more flexibility and efficiency for the university’s daily operations, and deliver available services 24/7,” the administration said in a statement.

The transformation brings several advantages:

• Better informed decision-making capacity
based on consistent and accurate
data
• More comprehensive analysis of integrated
information
• Improved core services to all constituents
• Advanced protection of confidential
information
• Improved employee efficiency and effectiveness
• Fewer system barriers to information
• More seamless integration between technology and learning.
