Northeastern University Unified Digital Campus
About UDC

Northeastern University has embarked on the most extensive technology projects in its history: The Unified Digital Campus (UDC).  The UDC project will modernize the foundation of the University's technological environment to support real-time, self-service access to information required for day to day operations, reporting and decision making.

The project's goal is to unify people, processes and technology to enhance system performance, competitiveness and the overall experience of our students, faculty and staff. UDC will enable quicker responses to internal and external factors which require change, agility and adaption to new pressures and market forces. This comprehensive system will reduce data entry redundancy and eliminate the need for shadow systems.

The foundation of UDC is Banner software which is provided by SunGard Higher Education, and deployed at many leading institutions including Brown University, Harvard, George Mason University, University of California at San Francisco, Notre Dame and many more. Northeastern chose Banner because it provides access to consistent and accurate data through an intuitive Web-based interface. In addition, the Banner system also provides security compliance with all governmental regulations.

Implementation of the new system began fall 2007 and module launches will continue through the end of 2009.  There is a large core team of NU staff working on the UDC project with many departments devoting the majority of resources available on ensuring its success. The project will replace the legacy student, finance and advancement systems.
