Blackboard is a learning management system that allows instructors to create, deliver, and manage web-based components for courses. It can be used to add online elements to a traditional course, or to develop completely online courses with few or no face-to-face meetings.
As of Spring 2011 Northeastern will be using Blackboard 9.1. You can find out more about it on our Blackboard 9 page.
Some of the features available through Northeastern's version of Blackboard are:
Blackboard course pages are easy to create. Instructors use built-in templates to generate course content pages, announcements, quizzes, discussions, and many other types of interactive content. Course materials can be entered directly into the Blackboard system, or written offline using any software you choose, and then uploaded into the Blackboard course site.
