Partners

EdTech Center staff work with university faculty and administrators interested in exploring and adapting emerging technologies to achieve teaching, learning and research goals. Northeastern partners include: the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CIETL), Snell Library, including the Digital Media Design Studio (DMDS), Information Services, Research, Corporations and Foundations and all Northeastern colleges and departments. External Partners include Educause, NERCOMP, Educause Learning Initiative (ELI) and the New Media Consortium (NMC).

EdTech + CIETL

EdTech Center collaborates with the newly created Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CIETL). The groups will work together to build a learner-centered culture that focuses on academic quality.

Current Collaborations:

  • Large enrollment classes and multi-section classes  - pedagogical and technology strategies including
  • Investigation of Personal Response Systems
  • Re-design of multi-section courses
  • Strategies for engaging students (small groups, online modules)
  • Teaching Assistant Support and Training
  • Eportfolios and assessment

EdTech + Information Services and Academic Technology Services

The EdTech Center staff have almost daily contact with IS.  There is a mutually helpful attitude between the two groups.

Current Projects

  • Digital Media Commons Task force. A multi-unit group charged with developing a vision for a digital media commons
  • Web Resources and Standards Task Force. This is a group composed of IS, MarCom and EdTech staff members who are discussing how to manage Northeastern websites.
  • Large enrollment course task force. This is a group composed of CIETL, EdTech, IS & library staff and faculty to discuss strategies, both pedagogical and technical, for improving large enrollment and multi-section classes
  • EdTech Templates Program - work with IS to establish user accounts and custom urls when template projects are moved to production.
  • IS/ATS participates on Tech Trends for Teaching day, annually
  • IS/ATS participates on Teaching with Technology Day, annually
  • Ongoing collaboration with IS/ATS on investigation of appropriate technologies through pilots. Examples include web tools for discussions and file sharing, MyFiles, personal response systems (clickers) and eportfolios.

EdTech + Snell Library

  • IMLS National Leadership planning grant proposal. The EdTech Center is assisting with the evaluation and assessment component of the proposal including membership on a formal evaluation committee.
  • Digital Media Design Studio (DMDS) on the development of a web template program for student groups and digital story projects for English and Health Sciences and on student digital media assignments.
  • Tech Trends for Teaching Day and the Teaching with Technology mini-conference.

EdTech + Marketing and Communications

Through its Web Template program, the EdTech Center offers templates to departments and centers. The EdTech Center works with Marketing and Communications to insure that the templates are fully compatible with university branding.

EdTech + MacLearning.org

The EdTech Center is a member of MacLearning.org,  a community that promotes effective pedagogical use of Apple and related third-party technologies. Its mission is to encourage innovative education through the open exchange of information, solutions, and ideas. Anyone can join.
