“Good professor. Slightly obsessed with Apple technology”

As I received the email this morning about TRACE reports being ready and immediately proceeded to log on to view them, 2 thoughts came through my brain. I wondered if the students noticed my use of iPad in the classroom and whether incentives worked to generate a good response rate from them. Going through the comments, it’s clear that students do notice when we use the technology in the ...

Reflections app

I was able to test out the new Reflections app that allows users to screen mirror the iPad on their computer screen. In my case I connected the macbook pro to the LCD output in the classroom and was able to screen mirror and present the entire lecture via my iPad without being attached to the computer station. The app worked really well and was relatively easy to use. Once again, I found severa...

Each day starts with rounds and I or my students use the iPad to access electronic medical records (EMR) to view notes, medications, and lab results. We use the iPad to do various searches for...

For the chalk haters out there

I am not sure if I am the only one who hates the old fashion (but very effective) teaching strategy of chalk on blackboard. It may be the feel of it in my hand, or the occasional squeaky noise, or breathing in the chalk dust, and definitely the fear of ruining my outfit with an unsightly white smudge. The iPad once again offered me the solution. I was recently teaching a series of lectures wh...
