Description:
Free place to view, share, and store files – offers webDAV support.

Review:
Box.net is quickly becoming my favorite tool for cloud-based file sharing to and from my iOS devices.

Essentially this is because they offer support for webDAV, but Northeastern's myFiles space does this as well... So, truthfully, box.net has four BIG things going for it that currently make it my favorite:

1) it's currently 5GB of free storage, and
2) it's got webDAV support, so you can easily sync files to and from your iOS device, for use with iWork and many other applications.
3) you have the ability to share your files in the standard ways (e.g. like google docs) and also via an "embeded" widget that lets you display them (as a desktop window with icons) in ANY web page - including in blackboard.
4) You can upload files to *particular folders* via email, so you can also allow others to upload files as well.

To be sure, you can then, also, use the webDAV connection to mount your 5GB of server-space on your Mac or Windows computer as well - to access the files from your iOS device(s) on your computer. You do this via this url: https://www.box.net/dav and, of course, your individual box.net login credentials.

On the mac you'd put that url into the "Connect to Server" window (apple+K or from the Finder's "Go" menu) and when prompted enter your username and password. Then, once you click OK, you will see the drive mount like any other server would on your Mac.

On a windows-based computer you can use the "map a network drive" option (right-click on your "network" icon/folder and you should see this option). Just make sure you check the "connect using different credentials" option, so you can put in your box.net username and password, or you'll get an error message!

Have you tried Box.net? Let me, and the rest of our mobile learning group, know what you think!
