Add Hyperlinks to a Slide

You can create links on a slide that will take you to:

  • Another file or a Web page
  • A slide in the presentation other than the next one
  • A new document
  • An email program

To create a hyperlink:

  1. Highlight the text on the slide that you want to turn into a link.
  2. Open the Insert menu and choose Hyperlink.

    The Hyperlink dialog box appears.

  3. Select the type of link you want to create from the four options on the left. For this example, assume you want to link to a Web page.
  4. Select "Existing File or Web Page".
  5. Click on the Browse the Web icon. (the globe with a magnifying glass)
  6. A browser window launches. Open the Web site you want to link to.
  7. Your browser has been launched in a separate window. Return to your PowerPoint file by selecting it in the task bar at the bottom of the screen. The Web site you have chosen now appears in the Address filed of the Hyperlink dialog box.
  8. Click OK to accept the link.

Try it! Create a slide with bulleted text. Create a link to a favorite Web site and to another slide in the presentation.
