Communicating with Students

To communicate with the entire class Blackboard add an Announcement.

To manage student inquiries, you may create Discussion Forums in Blackboard. Ask students to post their questions to a discussion instead of emailing you with the questions. Students may also be encouraged to answer other students’ questions. This helps you to manage student inquiries quickly and also facilitate students’ interaction with each other.

Providing Course Materials

If you have your lecture materials written or otherwise recorded, then you just need to make them available by uploading Items to Blackboard.

Any form of document can be uploaded as an Item, including various forms of media.

If you choose the “Enable Tracking” option as you create Items, you will be able to view statistics about students activity within the course.

Digital Homework Submission

Assignment Items in Blackboard allow students to upload documents along with comments to you and to receive grades and feedback privately. When you create an assignment item, Blackboard automatically creates an entry in the course grade book. Submitted work appears in and is retrieved from the grade book.

Turnitin Items also allow students to submit assignments digitally and compare submitted documents with databases of papers and the Internet, providing reports on potential plagiarism.
