Quick Response (QR) Code

What is it?

A Quick Response Code, a QR Code, is a two-dimensional bar code created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. It is called "Quick Response", as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

What does it do?

Scan with any QR code scanner app on your phone or any web-enabled mobile device with a camera. When accessed, the QR code takes you to a landing page where you'll usually find special or promotional content.

QR Codes support all kinds of content:

  • Text
  • Website URL
  • Telephone Number
  • SMS Message
  • Email Address
  • Email Message
  • Contact Details (VCARD)
  • Event (VCALENDAR)
  • Google Maps Location
  • Wifi Login (Android Only)
  • Paypal Buy Now Link
  • Social Media
  • iTunes Link
  • YouTube Video

How do I use them?

  1. Download a QR scanning application for your smartphone/device. Many FREE QR scanning applications – (RedLaser, NeoReader, etc.) -- are available.
  2. Open the scanning app and use the device's camera to focus the code on your screen.
  3. The application will recognize the code and automatically open up the link, video or image in your browser. You just need an internet connection to access the content.
