Connecting with students both in & outside of the classroom with RSS feeds, "Mother Blogs," twitter "hashtags" and "back-channels."
At this year's Teaching with Technology Mini conference, Dr. W. Gardner Campell spoke about using RSS feeds, "Mother Blogs," as well as implementing twitter "hashtags" and "back-channels" to help students and faculty connect to each other both in- and outside of the classroom. The outcomes of using these items were promising, but we're guessing some of the terms and tech might have baffled a few of you! And, even if the tech didn't sound like a completely foreign language, you might be wondering where and how to start the process of trying one or more of these items in your classes here at Northeastern. Well, you're in luck because this month's "Hands-ON!" at EdTech is designed specifically to help you any or all of those questions. We'll explore how to set up and use all of these tools and techologies, and set aside some time to discuss how you might want to implement them in your class.
You will need a computer to experiment with these tools, so you are welcome to bring your own laptop, or use one of ours.
