Graduating seniors at Northeastern routinely respond to employment advertisements that read "previous experience required" and you may, too. Thanks to Co-op, when you go out into the working world as a graduate, you may already have completed up to a year and a half of paid, professional work.

American Sign LanguageThe American Sign Language Program is dedicated to preparing individuals who can interact in a positive and supportive manner with members of the American Deaf Community. The Program does this by providing a wide array of course offerings as well as volunteer, internship and practicum opportunities. For its ASL/English interpretation majors, the Program is committed to providing opportunities that will allow them to acquire the linguistic, cognitive and ethical decision-making skills as well as the socio-cultural knowledge necessary to serve as professional ASL/English interpreters. |

School of EducationTraditional, full-time students may study to become teachers through the College of Arts and Sciences. Students major in a content area, such as English or mathematics, and take teacher preparation courses through the Department of Education. |

Modern LanguagesThe Modern Languages major seeks to ensure that students become as fluent as possible in a given language and introduces them to the relevant culture of that language. Students take a number of language classes as well as literature, cinema, and general civilization courses. Students are required to participate in Study abroad and encouraged to consider participating in International Co-op. |
Cooperative Education
(Co-op) is a distinctive form of experiential education in which students alternate periods of academic study with periods of paid work experience.
Students at Northeastern University with majors in biology and biochemistry may earn experiential education credit when they successfully complete the following components of the Cooperative education learning model:
