Welcome to East Asian Studies
The East Asian Studies minors at Northeastern provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the national, regional and local cultures of the fastest developing area of the world. Spread across nine departments and programs, its courses focus on the histories, cultures, and politics of important nation-states in Asia while also revealing the ways that their various cultures interact with one another and with the rest of the world in both the past and the present. Some attention in our curriculum is also devoted to Asian diasporas into Western countries, especially the United States. Through this dynamic curriculum, this interdisciplinary major seeks to provide a solid education for Northeastern undergraduates that will inspire and prepare them to be responsible, well-informed and globally attuned citizens, professionals, and leaders in a world increasingly influenced by political, economic, technological and cultural developments in Asia.
