What Makes Working Cities Work?: Key Factors in Urban Economic Growth

Working Cities Work_blueston-presentation-coverWhile on sabbatical at the Boston Federal Reserve Bank, Barry Bluestone presented his latest research on the factors that most correlate with employment growth in the older industrial cities in Massachusetts.  The research relies on data collected over the past eight years through the Dukakis Center’s Economic Development Self-Assessment Tool.  The findings suggest that municipal leaders can have a substantial impact on making their communities more attractive to firms looking to expand or relocate.
