Student group brings joy to people with disabilities
Northeastern’s Best Buddies Chapter
With more than 40 students involved, Northeastern’s chapter of Best Buddies International works year-round to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This year the group hosted Northeastern’s inaugural “Special Spirit” basketball game that gives athletes with disabilities the chance to see what it’s like to play college sports. As part of the event players go through pre-game introductions, wear game jerseys, and received post-game trophies. There was also a variety of activities for spectators, including a relay race, dance-off, and 50/50 raffle.
