Excellence in Social Justice Awards

The Excellence in Social Justice Award recognizes Northeastern community members for their efforts to promote social justice on campus and beyond it.  Please see award criteria for specific details.  

Projects demonstrating a pursuit of social justice also include initiatives focusing on:

  • Community Advocacy
  • Diversity
  • Equity and/or equal opportunity
  • Human Rights
  • Multiculturalism

Individual Faculty/Staff Award: $750
Individual Student Award: $750
Unit/Group Award: $2,500

All faculty, administrators, staff, students and recognized campus units, organizations or groups are eligible for nomination.  

Any university community member may nominate individual faculty/staff and students.  Supervisors, program staff, directors, deans or other senior administrators may nominate units.

 

Criteria:
Nominators must complete the required nomination form and answer the appropriate questions.  Please submit completed forms to the Office of Institutional Diversity & Equity in 125 Richards Hall.


**Responses should be 500 words or fewer.

1. How has the nominee demonstrated their commitment to social justice, diversity, equal opportunity, human rights and/or similar values?  Please state specific examples.

2. What impact or benefit has this nominee's work had on campus or beyond (i.e. students, program area(s), customers, departments, Greater Boston, internationally, etc.)?

3.  Make any additional comments that you feel will further assist the selection committee with their evaluation.
