Northeastern University announces the formation of three new colleges and searches for their founding deans:
- Dean, College of Arts, Media and Design
- Dean, College of Science
- Dean, College of Social Sciences and Humanities
Following a broad, campus-wide discussion and comprehensive self-study, Northeastern proudly announces the restructuring of the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Criminal Justice to create new Colleges of Arts, Media and Design; Science; and Social Sciences and Humanities. The founding of the College of Arts, Media and Design celebrates Northeastern's emergence as a home of innovative arts education and creative practice. The new College of Science enhances the University's national and international reputation for joining translational, use-inspired research with fundamental inquiry in an interdisciplinary environment. Northeastern's College of Social Sciences and Humanities unites departments and programs notable for bringing the social sciences and humanities to bear on challenges in public policy and urban and global engagement.
Northeastern University seeks accomplished and inspiring leaders for the new colleges. The founding deans in collaboration with Northeastern's faculty and senior leadership will articulate visions and strategic plans for strengthening interdisciplinary connections across the departments of the new colleges, advancing collaborations among the new colleges and other units of the University, and deepening Northeastern University's connections with partners and neighboring institutions in the greater Boston community and around the world.
