Information for Students & Alumni

PROGRAM
The Department offers a major, dual majors, minors and a host of elective courses based in interdisciplinary approaches to the study of history, culture, language, political systems and behaviors of peoples of African ancestry in the United States, the Caribbean, Africa and throughout the African Diaspora. All courses are open to all students.

DAAS GLOBAL EXPERIENCE
The Department offers global learning experiences that connect students with the world in ways both broad and deep. Our intensive, faculty-led Dialogue of Civilizations programs in countries including Kenya, Ghana and Grenada, put students on the ground, bringing to life classroom studies in the history, culture, health, politics, and economics of other nations.
