In a January meeting at Dhar Law firm in Boston, Prof. Robin Chandler, met with Liberian Minister of Gender and Development Julia Duncan Cassell and Dr. Raj Panjabi, Exec. Dir. of Tiyatien Health to consult on on-going collaborative partnerships in Liberia in the areas of gender, health, girls education, and gender-based violence prevention.
Prof. Richard Wamai was honored with the ‘Unsung Shujaa’ award ("Shujaa" is Swahili for ‘hero’) at the Blood:Water Mission's first annual Red Tie Gala. Prof. Wamai was presented with the award for his ongoing research in the areas of HIV/AIDS, primarily the affects of male circumcision in the transmission of the disease.
Prof. Kwamina Panford spent a year in Ghana on a Fulbright scholarship, the goal of which was to conduct research and find out whether oil production would lead to socio-economic development or create new social and political ills.
