The Peer Tutoring Program offers three levels of peer tutor training in accordance to the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification guidelines: CRLA Level 1, CRLA Advanced Level 2, and CRLA Level 3-Master Tutor. Tutor training focuses on both content specific and non-content specific tutoring. Tutor Training topics include but not limited to: The 12 Steps of the Tutor Cycle by MacDonald, Learning Styles Inventory, Blooms Taxonomy of Critical Thinking, and The Model of Strategic Learning by Weinstein. Tutors also are enrolled in a Blackboard Hybrid Course as a pathway towards CRLA certification. In addition, tutors attend workshops on topics related to their training level and have an opportunity to attend local conferences on tutoring, where they may have a chance to present on a topic in which they are interested.
