First-Year Writing Program
The courses in the First-Year Writing Program are designed to introduce students to the intellectual work of the University; to help them understand how and why scholars and teachers and practitioners across disciplines ask the kinds of questions in the ways that they do.
Most first-year students are registered for College Writing, ENGW1111 in the fall or spring. However, you may want to confirm your placement in ENGW1111 is appropriate for you by reviewing the Choosing the First-Year Writing Course That is Right for You website.
All students must complete ENGW1111 as part of the NU Core requirements. If you think you may be receiving AP or transfer credit for ENGW1111, be sure to discuss this decision and your transfer credit with an advisor at orientation.
