C. Randall Colvin

I am a fifth-year graduate student pursuing my PhD in Psychology with a focus in Social and Personality Psychology with Dr. Randy Colvin. My work broadly concerns the perceptual and emotional features of personality traits. Specifically, I am interested in how an individual’s own personality colors his or her perceptions of others’ personality and affect, and which traits promote accuracy over bias. I am further interested in trait guilt and shame, and the impact these tendencies have on interpersonal functioning. Some additional areas of interest include self-knowledge, individual differences in emotional experience, and investigations of the utility of technology, such as cell phones, mobile tracking devices, and video games, in personality and well-being research.
