David DeSteno

I am a third-year graduate student working towards a PhD in Psychology under Dr. David DeSteno. My research involves the examination of compassion as an adaptive emotional response within the context of life adversity. I am also interested in how emotions, like pride and anger, could affect our attitudes and actions when faced with moral transgressions, social injustices, and threats to the status quo. Other areas of research that I am involved in include the study of underlying factors that lead to prosocial behavior as individuals experience life adversity and, more recently, the effects of meditation on compassionate responding and prosociality.
