Stephen Harkins

I am a fifth-year graduate student working with Professor Stephen Harkins. My general research interests focus on the influence of motivation on performance. Specifically, I am interested in how the potential for evaluation and other social threats can produce changes in motivation and subsequent task performance, as well as identifying the processes that mediate these effects. In a separate line of research, I am examining the effect of stereotype threat on risk-taking behavior. Other topics of interest include dual-process decision making and the impact of stress on performance.
