Congratulations to Professor Lisa Feldman Barrett, who recently wrote an op-ed for the New York Times. Prof. Barrett’s piece, “Psychology Is Not In Crisis,” discusses a recent initiative called the Reproducibility Project, which demonstrated that out of 100 psychology experiments, over 60 percent of them failed to replicate, leading some to express concern that the field of psychology is in poor shape. Prof. Barrett argues, however, that failure to replicate is not a cause for alarm, but rather a normal part of the scientific process.
