OGL, Postdoctoral Research Associate
Completed a PhD titled ‘On the life history strategies of the Teredinidae’ under the supervision of Dr. Simon Cragg at the Insititue of Marine Sciences, University of Portsmouth. Current postdoctoral research examines the identity, function and transport of lignocellulse active enzymes in wood-eating (xylotrophic) bivalves of the Teredinidae.
Research interests include: wood degrading organisms, particularly the marine teredinid bivalves commonly referred to as shipworms; xylotrophic symbioses; lignocellulose degradation and exploring novel pathways to produce cellulosic ethanol.
