Financial Awards

At Northeastern University, there are many ways to finance a quality graduate education.

Tuition and fees may be obtained on the Student Financial Services website. They are subject to revision by the University’s President and the Board of Trustees.

Assistantships are awarded to full-time Ph.D. degree candidates on the recommendation of the departments.

The following options are available. For more information and questions about program-specific awards, please contact the department’s graduate coordinator.

Teaching Assistantships
These awards provide a stipend, a tuition waiver to fulfill departmental degree requirements as well as the health plan in exchange for work. Available in most departments.

Grant-Supported Research Assistantships
These awards are available in some departments. These awards provide a stipend, a tuition waiver to fulfill departmental degree requirements as well as the health plan in exchange for 20 hours of work per week. Available in most departments.

College-sponsored Research Assistantship
The Distinguished Graduate Fellowship (doctoral level) is available in some areas of study. It includes a stipend and research assistantship.
