Research Policies
Office of Environmental health and safety: The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) manages and implements a comprehensive set of programs for all faculty, staff and students at Northeastern University. The goal of EHS is to provide consultation to the many different departments so that a safe and healthful working environment is maintained. In addition, audit services are provided to ensure that Northeastern University fulfills obligations to be in compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations.

Office Of Human Subject Research Protection (HSRP)
It is the policy of Northeastern University that no activity involving human subjects be undertaken until those activities have been reviewed and approved by the University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB). Accordingly, all university research involving human subjects must first be reviewed by the Office of Human Subject Research Protection.

Biosafety
The University is committed to providing a safe and healthful learning, teaching and research environment. The goals of the University’s biological safety program are to:

  • protect staff and students from exposure to infectious agents
  • prevent environmental contamination
  • protect experimental materials
  • comply with federal, state and local regulations

Radiation Safety
The University is committed to providing a safe and healthful learning, teaching and research environment. The goals of the University’s radiation safety program are to:

  • protect staff and students from exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing materials
  • prevent radioactive contamination
  • manage the University’s broad scope license
  • comply with federal, state and local regulations
