“I love my co-op because I know the research I’m doing will make a difference in the lives of young people who are struggling with their mental health.”
Emma Parrish is on co-op at Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, in Melbourne, Australia. There the psychology major is a a psychology research intern. She’s working on several projects examining cognition and youth mental health, particularly first episode psychosis, as well as working with clients in psychological recovery groups.
Although her work is full of heavy subjects and topics of conversation, Parrish has managed to find free time and explore Australia.
She watched Bernard Tomic take on Denis Istomin at the Australian Open in Melbourne. And she’s been to the Great Ocean Road. Parrish talks about that trip saying it “is an absolutely incredible road trip from Melbourne along the Southern coast of Australia. The formation in the picture is called London Bridge and was attached to the main land until it collapsed in 1990.”
