Co-op Employment

student on co-op in radio stationAccording to U.S. News & World Report, Northeastern is one of the top-ranked universities in the country for programs that require students to combine classroom learning with real-world experience. A mainstay of a Northeastern education since the early 20th century, co-op allows students to alternate classroom study with six-month periods of paid employment in jobs connected to their academic, career or personal interests. This practice-oriented education model attracts hundreds of local, national and international employers from every field.

Through the cooperative education program, employers gain access to a pool of promising young talent, many of whom become excellent candidates for permanent employment as they approach graduation.

third of three items Northeastern Students Work Locally and Worldwide

Each year, approximately 5,500 Northeastern students work in more than 2,000 co-op sites in Boston, across the United States and abroad.

An impressive 75% of the 2005 graduating class who responded to the graduate survey reported that they had been offered a full time position with a former co-op employer. 43% of the respondents accepted the position.

CO-OP WORKS
