CVS
In operation since 1963, CVS is a well known retail pharmacy and health care company with approximately 7,000 locations in the United States. Headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, the company is the largest employer of pharmacists and nurse practitioners in the country. Its values lie in attention to “customer, value, and service.”
Because of its emphasis on community care, CVS recruits and hires Northeastern University co-op students interested in careers as community pharmacists and who are especially passionate about health care service. Nearly 90% of the Northeastern students who hold a co-op placement at CVS remain as employees with the firm after graduation.
Each year, CVS employs between 30-45 Northeastern University co-op students in its pharmacies. A majority of students are placed in the greater Boston area. However, opportunities for CVS co-op jobs outside of Massachusetts are expanding. Recently, nine Northeastern students departed for co-op jobs at CVS locations in San Diego, California.
