The Criminal History Systems Board
Maintaining a complex information system that connects all the criminal justice agencies within Massachusetts, the Criminal History Systems Board ensures the safety of our citizens.
One particularly important segment of the Board is the Criminal Offender Record Information unit. Here, criminal record checks are performed on behalf of agencies such as schools, camps, and daycare centers. This work is crucial because it serves agencies supporting vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly.
About one-third of the employees in the Criminal Offender Record Information unit are former Northeastern co-op students. Additionally, about six co-op students studying criminal justice and related subjects are employed here each semester.
