Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC, among the top tier of teaching hospitals that make Boston internationally renowned for medicine and health care, is a dedicated partner who has been hiring Northeastern co-op students for over 30 years.

The medical center cares for approximately 40,000 patients a year, which places a high premium on staff members who are dedicated, and able to work at a fast pace while maintaining high standards of care. With their demonstrated professionalism and their commitment to learning and asking questions, Northeastern co-op students fit well into that environment.

“The students who come from Northeastern are very important to our organization,” said Lois Silverman, former chair of the BIDMC board. “I’ve seen how these students function as nursing assistants. I’ve seen their enthusiasm, their joy of learning, their dedication to patient care, and it’s really extraordinary.”
