Preparing for Co-op

Students prepare for co-op by following these important steps before starting their first work assignment:

  1. Enroll in the required co-op prep course (one semester, one credit course)
  2. Meet and set up timely appointments with their assigned co-op coordinator (based on major)
  3. Practice and perfect job search techniques and interviewing skills
  4. Obtain job referrals and references from their networks
  5. Attend Northeastern Career Fairs, twice a year (early October, February)
  6. Join student discussions and information sessions for international and domestic co-op opportunities
  7. Participate in mock interviews, attend Co-op and Career Development workshops, events, conferences
  8. Research firms/companies/organizations, prepare for and complete co-op class assignments

In addition, students are able to download a copy of the Co-op Student Handbook 2015 to learn more about co-op requirements and preparation.
