Service Days

NU Service Day, MLK Day of Service, and other one-day programs provide students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members the opportunity to come together to assist area nonprofits with critical projects. In the past, groups have gone to organizations in Mission Hill, Fenway, Roxbury, and all round Boston. Examples of service day projects include going to the Esplanade Association to paint fences, to Morville House to socialize with elderly citizens, to Cradles to Crayons to sort children’s toys, to the American Diabetes Walk to cheer walkers on, and to New Mission High School and the New Mission School to set up a library and athletic center.

Opportunity to Lead is a brand-new initiative, inviting students who are interested in service and leadership to "get their feet wet" in a low-commitment way. Participants will attend a series of 3 workshops, then be a Team Leader on a project for Fall Service Day. This is a perfect program for those who want to take a more active role, but aren't sure where to start! This program runs each Fall semester. Contact Anna for more details.
