CenSSIS K–12 Pathways

Enables graduate students and advanced undergraduates in science, math, engineering, and technology to serve as resources for teachers in kindergarten through twelfth-grade science and math instruction.

The John Coltrane Memorial Concert Educational Outreach Program

Brings live performances of creative improvisational music to elementary and secondary classrooms. Students and chaperones also provided free tickets to the annual Coltrane concert.

The Marine Science Center

Hosts Boston Public Schools students for field trips to learn more about New England’s coastal environment and scientific methods.

Max Warburg Courage Curriculum

A yearlong language-arts program for sixth graders in Boston and the suburbs based on teaching the value of courage and dedicated to strengthening character development and literacy skills.

Mentors in Violence Prevention

A leadership training program that motivates both men and women, from high school through adulthood, to play a central role in fighting against rape, battery, and sexual harassment.

RE-SEED (Retirees Enhancing Science Education through Experiments and Demonstrations)

Prepares engineers, scientists, and others with science backgrounds to work as volunteers, providing in-classroom support to upper-elementary and middle-school science teachers.


Sponsors scientists to work with Boston-area high-school science teachers to promote physics education.

Center for STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics) Education

Provides technical resources to faculty, furthers faculty research, and engages undergraduates in K–12 education in local schools.

The Department of Art + Design

Hosts workshops for media educators from the Boston Public Schools.


Provides coaching and professional development to Boston Public Schools teachers, as well as afterschool tutoring for students.

Research Experiences for Teachers

A six-week summer research experience for middle- and high-school mathematics and science teachers and community-college STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics) faculty.

The Speech-Language and Hearing Center

Works with Boston Public Schools speech-language pathologists and provides training facilities and guidance, as well as screening services for students.
