How do I register for Commencement?
Access the myNEU portal by logging on to www.myNEU.neu.edu. Using the Self-Service tab you will find the Commencement link located at the bottom left corner of the screen. Choose the My Commencement option and complete the questionnaire provided.

How long will the questionnaire take?
This task should take approximately 5 minutes for you to complete, and is required in order to begin the degree completion process.

What if I don't see the Commencement link on myNEU?
You will need to contact Student and Academic Affairs at 617.373.3546.

What if my degree information is incorrect?
You will be able to note this response on the questionnaire and provide a comment in reference to your concerns. The information will be reported to the Office of the Registrar and they will direct it to your college/school for further verification. It is advisable that you follow up with the contact phone number provided in the questionnaire specific to this matter. You will have access to the information through myCommencement at any time after you submit your questionnaire to check your current degree status.

What if I want to change my name after I enter it on the questionnaire?
You will have access to your Review Page through myCommencement after you submit your questionnaire. You will be allowed to make limited changes to your information, including your diploma name, your ceremony attendance response, your diploma mailing address and post-commencement employment information. A $50 fee may apply if any name changes are made after the diploma has been printed.

If I change my address on myCommencement will it update my address with the Office of the Registrar?
No, the address information you provide is for Commencement purposes only. If you want to update your address for any other reason, you must do so through the myNEU portal using the Change of Address link.

Are there any deadlines I should be aware of?
Yes, important deadlines apply as follows:

Publication Deadline (any information applicable to your degree or diploma name, not received by the following date, will not be included in the program.)

Will I be able to order my commencement invitations and tickets on-line?
No. Commencement invitations and tickets will be given to each degree candidate for the ceremony that they are expected to graduate. They will be distributed on April 1, 2008 from Career Services, 125 Knowles Center.

You may also order Graduation Announcements for family and friends. A separate mailing will be sent to you with options to purchase graduation announcements, thank you notes, etc. For further details you may contact:

How many tickets will I receive?
Each degree candidate will be given 10 invitations and guest tickets. Guests must enter through the lobby located on St. Botolph St. and tickets must be presented for admission to the ceremony.

How do I get a cap and gown?
Academic regalia (cap, tassel, gown and hood) will be distributed prior to the ceremony on May 23, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the rear of Matthews Arena, enter at Gainsborough St.

Do I need to pay for my cap and gown?
No, academic regalia is provided at no cost to you and may be kept as a memento of the occasion.

Are their other important obligations I should be aware of before Commencement?
Yes, please note the following:

Loan Obligations
An exit interview is mandatory if you have received a Federal Perkins, Health Professions, Nursing, Physician Assistant and/or Federal Stafford Student Loan. It is highly recommended that you attend one of the scheduled sessions* if you receive a Massachusetts No Interest Loan.

*The Student Loan Collections Office (253 Richards Hall - 617.373.2160) along with the Office of Student Financial Services (356 Richards Hall - 617.373.3190) will be contacting you with further details and session dates for completing this process.

Financial Obligations
You must fulfill all financial obligations to the University prior to the release of your diploma. Your current balance, including any balance also owed on a payment plan must be paid in full. If this obligation is not fulfilled until after Commencement, you must contact the Commencement Office at 617.373.4098, for the release of your diploma.

Where and what time do I report for Commencement:
The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008. Graduates should arrive at the rear of George J. and Hope M. Matthews Arena, using the Gainsborough St. entrance, promptly at 12:15 p.m.
