Northeastern University Commencement
August Degree Conferral

REGISTRATION
As a degree candidate, you must begin the commencement process by registering for commencement via your myNEU account. Using the Self-Service tab, you will find the Commencement link located at the bottom left corner of the screen. Choose the My Commencement option and complete the questionnaire provided. This task should take approximately 5 minutes for you to complete, and is REQUIRED in order to ensure the accuracy of your degree. If the Commencement link is not available to you on myNEU, please contact your advisor.

Take the time to provide your name as you want it to be printed on your diploma and in the commencement program.  Be clear.  Be precise.  Be accurate!

Remember:
• Your major is not printed on the diploma.
• Changes made to your name after the diploma has been printed may be subject to a $50 fee and may not be corrected until after commencement.
• Changes made to your degree information and name submitted after March 20 will not be noted in the commencement program.

Be sure to update your post-graduation mailing address information via My Commencement. Please note that this action does not update your information with the Office of the Registrar.  Changes to your permanent address should also be updated on myNEU!

You will have access to update the information you provided on myCommencement through August 7.

OBLIGATIONS AND DEADLINES
MyCommencement Access
You will have access to MyCommencement through August 7. You must complete the registration form by this date.

Financial Obligations
You must fulfill all financial obligations to the University prior to the release of your diploma. Your current balance, including any balance also owed on a payment plan must be paid in full. If this obligation is not fulfilled until after Commencement, you must contact the Commencement Office at 617.373.4098, for the release of your diploma.

Loan  Obligations
As a federal loan recipient, you are required to complete an Exit Interview prior to leaving the university. The interview provides you with important information regarding your rights and responsibilities.

An exit interview is mandatory if you have received a Federal Stafford, Federal PLUS, Federal Perkins, Health Professions, Nursing Student Loan and/or Physician Assistant Student Loan. Your diploma will not be released until the Exit Interview is complete. If this obligation is not fulfilled until after Commencement, you must contact the Commencement Office at 617.373.4098, for the release of your diploma.

Please note that there are two (2) separate processes that you may need to complete depending on which types of loans you borrowed:

1) If you borrowed a Federal Stafford or PLUS loan, you can complete online exit counseling for these loans by visiting the appropriate website below.  Contact Student Financial Services (356 Richards Hall - 617.373.3190) with any questions.  Be sure to keep confirmation that you completed your online exit session:
-Undergraduate Students: http://mappingyourfuture.org/sx
-Graduate Students: http://mappingyourfuture.org/sgx

2) If you borrowed a Federal Perkins, Health Professions, Nursing Student Loan and/or Physician Assistant Student Loan, the Student Loan Collections Office (253 Richards Hall - 617.373.2160) will be contacting you with further details for completing the exit process for these loans.  If you completed an Exit Interview for these types of loans in a prior semester, but did not graduate, you will need to complete another Exit Interview as the dates of loan repayment will change.

If you have questions about any information pertaining to your federal loan exit interview, please contact the appropriate office listed above depending on your loan type(s)

DIPLOMA

Your diploma will be printed as per the information noted on your MyCommencement Registration.

Your major will NOT be printed on your diploma.  Your diploma will be printed with your college/school name, the degree (refer to the degree field on your MyCommencement Registration Form/Review Page), and honors designation, if applicable.

Diplomas will be mailed to you, 2 weeks following August 27, providing you have met all academic and financial obligations by this date.   You must contact the Commencement Office for release of your diploma if obligations are fulfilled after this mailing.
