Getting
Started
Follow the steps below to get started using Serena Collage:
1. Partner with the Web team
Your Web site must be built in Serena
Collage by Northeastern Creative Services. If your site is in the process of
being built, or has been completed, proceed to the steps below to access Collage.
If you would like information about having your site built in Collage, please
contact Kris Guay .
2. Request a Collage user account
Collage uses the same database of logins and passwords as the myNEU system
(the login and password needed to access myNEU.neu.edu services such
as paycheck and personal information). However, you still need to
be added to the Collage pool of users. To request an account, contact
Roger Donaghy .
3. Establish administrative access for your computer
Collage is a Web-based tool, however, certain components must be installed
on your computer in order for your Web browser to effectively use
the application. Often the installation of these components requires that you
have administrative privileges for your computer (the ability to add/remove
programs). If you do not have administrative privileges for your computer,
you need to request them from Information Services. Call the Help Desk
(373-HELP) and request "Local Administrative Privileges" (also known as "Local
Admin Rights"). The IS representative will guide you through the short process.
4. Conduct a system check
Before you attempt to use Collage,
conduct the following system check:
a. Go to the URL https://collage01.neu.edu:8443
b. In the lower right corner of the log-in box is a gray arrow pointing down.
Click on the arrow.
c. At the bottom of the log-in box will be a series of links. Click on
the link for "Options & Components."
d. At the bottom of the "Options & Components" box will be another series of
links. Click on the link for "System Checks."
e. A page will come up entitled "Serena Collage : Check Overview." In the "Browser" section
of the page is a link to "Classic UI." Click the link to see if your system
is set up for optimal Collage use. You will get a "No problems detected" message
if your system is set up properly.
f. If your system fails one of the checks, a red error message is posted and
you should contact Web Services for assistance.
5. Attend a training session
Before you can manage your Web
site you are required to attend a Collage training session, which is designed
to insruct the basics of Collage use, starting with the log-in process and
completing with the transfer of files to the live Web server. Please see the
Training & Workshops
page for a schedule and more information.
