Peggy O'Kelly has been an engaged and valued member of the Northeastern faculty and community since 1979. A licensed Certified Public Accountant, Ms. O'Kelly's expertise in the area of mergers, acquisitions and foreign currency transactions from the private sector enhances her teaching. She emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills over the memorization of facts and formulas. In nominating her, one student wrote: "her inspired teaching changed my entire understanding of the field of accounting." To instill the importance of teamwork and cooperation-two skills valued by business-she creates projects that reinforce course material while promoting the development of collegial work styles. Last year, the College of Business Administration recognized her as its Teacher of the Year.
Grigorios Livanis brings an unusual combination of expertise to Northeastern. Dr. Livanis is a mathematician and an economist who works in the areas of production economics, international trade and industrial organization. His teaching interests embrace a wide range of subjects: applied econometrics, firm theory and management, international economics, financial economics, and information and uncertainty. Undergraduate and graduate students value Dr. Livanis's ability to draw upon concrete and immediate examples to illuminate complex theories and principles. He is a teacher and an inspiration; one student said: "He encouraged me to pursue my dreams and work with passion in everything that I do."
