Northeastern University College of Arts and Sciences
Journalism

Journalists are our link to people, events, and places around the globe, and it is their responsibility to bring us information quickly and objectively.

You can begin developing your skills as a reporter and writer while still on campus. There are several major newspapers published at Northeastern, and the University has its own radio station. Overall, our undergraduate program prepares students for exciting careers in print, broadcast, online journalism, and in public relations.

The journalism curriculum begins with basic newswriting and reporting with courses like “Interpreting the Day’s News” and “Journalism Ethics and Issues.” From there, students may take a broad selection of related courses, such as “Techniques of Journalism” or “Documentary Production,” and dip into other disciplines such as math, science, languages, and the humanities. Journalists are generalists, so the more knowledge and understanding you bring to a story, the richer it will be. Our curriculum allows for exactly that kind of flexibility.
