Economics
Economists analyze the process of economic growth and identify policies that contribute to economic stability and progress. They function at all levels of society, from analysts forecasting market trends to government agencies that influence global development.
In our program, students study the sources of economic growth and where it fits in the context of today’s complex labor market. Courses cover international trade; the market behavior of families, firms, and industries; the environmental costs of growth; and the economic aspects of natural resources, poverty, health, labor market discrimination, trade unions, and governmental oversight.
We offer both Bachelors of Science (BS) and Arts (BA) degrees in economics. The BS focuses on balancing economic theory with its application to issues and problems that you are likely to confront throughout your lifetime. The BA degree examines the same fundamentals and real-world issues, but also offers greater exposure to a more traditional liberal arts education.
Graduates land jobs in federal, state, and local governments, major corporations, or financial institutions. No matter which degree program you choose, the study of economics will give you analytical skills and modes of independent thinking that lay the groundwork for lifelong learning.
